Surveys everyone can answer

The people you survey include people who use screen readers, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification or their own colour settings. Our survey pages, client portal and this website are built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA.

What that means for the people answering

  • Every question, answer and button can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clear focus outline
  • Screen readers hear each question with its choices, which ones are required, and what needs fixing
  • Moving between pages is announced ("Step 2 of 6"), and the cursor goes where it's needed
  • Text and buttons stay readable: every survey's colours are checked before it can be published
  • Pictures carry descriptions; moving backgrounds can be paused, and stop for people who turn motion off
  • Names, emails and addresses can be filled in by the browser
  • Pages work at 200% zoom and on small phone screens

How we check

Every change to the platform is tested automatically: each kind of question and screen is checked with axe-core (the industry's standard accessibility checker) and walked through as a keyboard and screen-reader user would. The Survey Builder won't publish a survey whose colours can't be read, whose pictures have no description, or whose questions have no wording. We also test by hand with a keyboard and a screen reader.

What we're still working on

  • An independent accessibility audit, to confirm our own testing.
  • Our staff tools (the admin and the Survey Builder) are being brought to the same standard.
  • Content written into a survey by hand (custom text blocks) is reviewed by us, but can't be checked automatically.
  • The "I'm not a robot" check on open links and our contact form is provided by Cloudflare. It usually needs no action; if it ever gets in your way, please tell us.

Tell us about a problem

If anything on a survey, the portal or this site is hard to use, please tell us or email support@nocodedoc.com. Say which page and what happened; we reply within two working days and fix problems as a priority.
